Zatanna

Zatanna was rescued from the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier after being incidentally hooked by a fisherman. Zatanna had a hook embedded in the back of her mouth that was surgically removed by our veterinarian. During their rehabilitation stay, Zatanna passed over 100 pieces of ingested plastic! After 3 months of recovery, this sea turtle was released back into the wild in Coral Cove Park, Tequesta, FL.

2020-Mar-14 Cleared for release by veterinarian. Flipper and pit tagged.

2020-Feb-10 Appetite and activity level has improved since passing of plastic.

2020-Feb-3 Passed over 100 pieces of plastic.

2020-Jan-21 Offered food for the first time after surgery. Interested in shrimp.

2020-Jan-14 Hook surgically removed. Recovering in water.

2020-Jan-13 Rescued from Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. X-Ray confirmed hook was present in mouth.
