Jane Fonda's Story

Jane Fonda was rescued from the Indian River Lagoon in Vero Beach, FL with a healed blunt force trauma injury to carapace. She was found floating and lethargic with a heavy load of  barnacles. She also presented fibropapilloma tumors near her front and rear flippers.

2021-Aug-03 Released in Hobe Sound, FL.
2021-Jul-03 Cleared for release by veterinarian.
2021-Jul-15 Active and resting on bottom. FP tumor surgery sites completely healed.
2021-Jun-06 No FP tumor regrowth observed. Moved to larger tank.
2021-May-22 Wounds healing well. Very active.
2021-May-11 FP tumor removal performed by veterinarian.
2021-Apr-28 Removed weights and still not floating.
2021-Apr-24 Radiographs show the gas has cleared. Discontinue Gas-X.
2021-Apr-23 No longer floating. Eating well and active.
2021-Apr-15 Raised water level, still floating. Adhered weights to carapace to counteract bouyancy issues. Begin Gas-X.
2021-Apr-12 In shallow water. Floating and inactive.
2021-Apr-11 Rescued from Vero Beach and brought to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Begin supportive medications and completed diagnostics bloodwork and radiographs. Dry dock overnight.
