Tonks's Story

Tonks was rescued from Melbourne Beach, FL coverd in barnacles. She was brought to Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center and later transferred to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Multiple internal infections, including pneumonia, were discovered. After making a full recovery, she was released at Sebastian Inlet State Park.

2019-June-03 Released at Sebastian Inlet State Park.
2019-May-10 Discontinue laser therapy. Continue honey application.
2019-Apr-16 Continue MLS laser therapy daily and continue using honey on wounds for 15 minutes.
2019-Mar-03 Shell is healing and becoming less sensitive.
2019-Feb-16 Started nebulizer treatment for pneomonia.
2019-Feb-12 Barnacles caused keratin to peel off of carapace. Bone exposed. Began honey & silver sulfadiazine treatments daily. Began MLS laser therapy daily.
2019-Feb-11 Transfered to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and was given a freshwater bath to kill off barnacles on shell.
2019-Feb-10 Rescued from Melbourne Beach and taken to the Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center.
