Growing up in South Florida during the 1990s-2000s, I was immersed in nature at an early age. I remember my friends and I would play outside all day riding bikes, fishing, sometimes even catching a fish or two, but mostly just enjoying being outside.
Throughout my childhood I was fortunate enough to be able to attend summer camps each year, which allowed me to enjoy the South Florida sun. Having grown up playing out in nature, it has become one of my passions and one of the reasons I love to educate others about nature, especially kids during their summer camps, which is why I enjoy working at Gumbo Limbo!
Luckily, I was able to find someone who loves nature and being outside as much as I do! My fiancé and I love going to nature areas, kayaking, botanical gardens, the list goes on. Exploring a new nature area has even become our special weekend Valentine’s Day tradition! So, when the opportunity came up to take our engagement pictures using the beautiful scenery of a historic garden in South Florida, we could not pass it up! Even in these times of COVID, wearing a mask in the hot South Florida weather was worth it to us, because we were able to do what we both love: being with nature and each other.
