Our Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility will soon be rescuing sea turtles in a brand new sea turtle ambulance! Thanks to the Friends of Gumbo Limbo and a generous grant from the Sea Turtle Grants Program, our rehabilitation facility will have a fully outfitted rescue vehicle to transport sick and injured sea turtles to the rehabilitation facility at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center’s Sea Turtle Conservation Program has been responding to sea turtle strandings in Palm Beach County for over 35 years. In 2010, we opened the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility and began treating 50-100 sick and injured sea turtles each year. This new sea turtle rescue vehicle will help our sea turtle programs respond safely and efficiently to sea turtle strandings.
The Sea Turtle Grants Program is funded by proceeds from the sale of the Florida Sea Turtle License Plate. Learn more at www.helpingseaturtles.org.
