Come join us to learn about the unique and fascinating formation of Florida!  Our home is relatively young (geologically speaking) having only emerged from the sea a few hundred thousand years ago.  So much has happened over time to create the beautifully diverse land, rivers, lakes, Everglades, coastal, and marine ecosystems thanks to our incredible geological history!

We'll begin with a brief video background on the history of Florida's geological history and how it affects us today.  After, we will explore Gumbo Limbo and Red Reef Park for different rocks such as coquina and oolite limestone.  We'll move on to some activities for exploring the geology of Florida from your backyard and several interesting geological sites in our area.  We'll end with a live portion where you’ll even have the opportunity to learn about contributing to a Citizen Science project and discuss what we learned and our geological experiences. The project aids scientists who you can help learn more about Florida, revealing more “buried treasures” that are our incredible geology!  Recommended for ages 10 and up.
