Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Visit the Nature Center for a children's coloring activity to make a pledge to protect the ocean.

“Is that algae or microplastic?"  Sea Turtles aren’t the only animals eating plastics.  Visit the second level of the deep aquariums to participate in this activity.

  • Friday and Saturday: 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM
  • Sunday: 1:30 PM

View "Saving Sea Turtles: Preventing Extinction" in the classroom.

  • Friday: 2:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 2:30 PM
  • Sunday: 1:00 PM

Visit the lab to learn why microplastics are a major problem

  • Matching Activity - Match the marine debris to the fact
  • Microscopes - Dive deep into plastics and see how the microbeads and microplastics that are in many of the soaps we use are a danger to the ocean. View them up close as well as other plastics, we want everyone to do their part to minimize their overall use of plastic.

Games and Activities on the lawn by the Outdoor Aquariums

  • Shark Hats
  • #seaturtlesROCK
  • Marine Debris Sorting Game and Display
  • Facepainting

Friday and Saturday

Sea to Shore Alliance's Heathy Habitats & Oceans traveling exhibit, the marine debris bus, will be here all day Friday and Saturday.

Red's Kitchen will be here Saturday from 11-4. Sustainable seafood dishes - including lionfish and yellow jack - will be for sale. Ten percent of proceeds will be donated to Friends of Gumbo Limbo.

  • Lionfish are predators to our oceans, laying hundreds of eggs weekly, they are eating native fish and their food. Lionfish are edible and considered a delicacy; come enjoy this tasty treat!

Shoreline Cleaning Contest
Stop by the tent on the lawn to pick up cleaning supplies. Then head out to the beach and see how much trash you can collect. Bring it back and we will weigh it and add your name to our competitor board. The person who collects the most trash wins a special prize! You do not have to be present to win!

Thank you World Oceans Day Supporters
