Summer Group Tours, Self-Guided Tours, and Field Trips

Any group of ten (10) or more, who plans to visit Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in passenger vans or buses, Monday- Friday, must make an advanced reservation.

Groups are sent bus/van passes in advance once the reservation is confirmed. Please present your pass to the Park Ranger upon arriving. Groups without reservations and/or bus passes will be turned away.

Summer Camp Field Trips

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers summer camp field trips from June 10th, 2019 through August 2nd, 2019. Choose either morning or afternoon sessions, Monday through Friday, at 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM, lasting 1½ hours.  Campers begin in the classroom with a lesson about barrier island habitats, followed by a guided scavenger hunt around the park, on the trails, and at the aquariums!  We do not have facilities for lunch here on the property, but groups may get a bus pass for Red Reef Park to eat lunch there before or after their tour.

We will accept reservations for summer camp field trips starting on March 1st, 2019.  Please call Alyssa Saldarriaga at 561-544-8612 for more information or to schedule a field trip.  A $5 per child donation is requested for summer camp field trips. Field trips are first come first served. Reservations for self-guided tours are required. No Drop-ins Allowed.

Adult Group Tours

All groups are required to register in advance (no drop-ins allowed).  Tours are available for groups of all ages and are scheduled based upon availability of staff and facilities.  Please call Susan Elliott at 561-544-8606 for more information or to request a tour.   There is a $5 per child donation request for both guided and self-guided group tours.

Our four outdoor aquariums, butterfly garden, FAU observation gallery, Ashley Trail, and indoor Nature Center are all open and available to explore. Adults and children enjoy learning about coastal Florida inside the Nature Center, with our interactive displays and live animals (snakes, musk turtles, hermit crabs, and golden orb weaver spider).

Visit our Gift Shop, located in the Nature Center, which sells not only tee shirts and books, but a wide variety of educational toys and “Green Living” products.  For staffing purposes, we do require advanced notice for groups shopping with children; an adult chaperone must assist children with their purchases.
