Summer Camp Field Trips
Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers summer camp field trips from June 7, 2013 through August 16, 2013. Choose either morning and afternoon sessions, Mondays through Fridays, at 10:00 AM. or 1:00 PM, lasting 1 ½ hours, Campers begin in the classroom with a lesson about barrier island habitats, followed by a guided scavenger hunt around the park, on the boardwalk and at the new sea tanks!.
Our four outdoor tanks, 0.3-mile boardwalk loop with 40’ observation tower, butterfly garden, FAU observation gallery, north trail, and indoor Nature Center are all open and available to explore. Adults and children enjoy learning about coastal Florida inside the Nature Center, with our interactive displays and live animals (snakes, musk turtles, hermit crabs, and golden orb weaver spider).
Visit our Gift Shop, located in the Nature Center, which sells not only tee shirts and books, but a wide variety of educational toys and “Green Living” products. For staffing purposes, we do require advanced notice for groups shopping with children; an adult chaperone must assist children with their purchases.
We will accept reservations for sumer camp field trips starting on March 4, 2013. Please call Patricia Clenzi at 561-544-8611 for more information or to schedule a field trip. A $5 per child donation is requested for summer camp field trip.
Group Tours
All groups are required to register in advance (no drop-ins please). Tours are scheduled based upon availability of staff and facilities. Please call Susan Elliott at 561-544-8606 for more information or to request a tour. There is a $5 per child donation request for both guided and self-guided group tours.
